I found a wonderful surprise when I removed the driver’s side door rubber.

Started working on the weird rear quarter panel. This thing has high and low spots and surface rust. It looks like maybe a tire blowout caused the damage.

Finished Driver Door Hinge

I was a pain but the driver’s door sags no more!

not pretty but the top hinge tightened up real well.

Old, sloppy roller

The pin that holds the roller in place wants to stay where it is. I had to weld a bolt to the pin and use a slide hammer and heat to get it out.

The pin is out!

Will of the heat and slide hammering the main pin for the striker roller loosened up so a little tack weld will hold that in place.

New roller and pin going in.

Lower hinge good as new! New pin and bushings plus new roller. That spring is fun to install, especially when you don't have the correct tool.

The driver’s door is installed and is as smooth as butter!

Started Work on the Doors

Typical of this generation Camaro, the doors are sagging, the driver’s more so than the passenger’s side. The top hinge is a horrible design and wears out at the pivot points. …so, off comes the door!

Notice the uneven gap between the door and fender.

You can see how the door has been scraping on the ground effects due to the sag. Also we have some rust to take care of.

Top hinge, the bad one. Old hinge pins ground off and hinge taken apart.

Lower hinge. The pin and bushings will be replaced since the door is off.Feels like I'm going backwards in progress. Might as well do it right!
